Campaigning for Crewe and Nantwich and Cheshire East

Stop Labour's police cuts

Lets stop crime together

Many people are concerned about levels of crime and anti-social behaviour in the area. Local police chiefs, supported by the Liberal Democrats, want an extra 35 police to fight crime in our area.

But Labour ministers in London are set to say no to these plans.

Even worse, they have starved the police of extra money this year - making a real terms cut in the amount of money available. This means up to 129 police officers could be cut from our police force - and that is after 47 were axed last year.

The local Liberal Democrat team have been following a four-point action plan to make our area safer:

1. Campaigning against Labour's police cuts

2. Pressed for extra Police Community Support Officers

3. Forced the council to fund more alleygating to make our area safer

4. Supporting alcohol control orders to give police powers to take alcohol from troublemakers
